Waves of Freedom Switzerland (WOFA) is an independent, non-profit Swiss humanitarian organization founded in Geneva in July 2025. It works to promote human dignity, justice, and international solidarity, in accordance with universal humanitarian principles.
WOFA is the Swiss delegation of the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF), an international citizen movement active in more than 40 countries. In this capacity, it coordinates Swiss humanitarian projects carried out within this framework, ensuring their funding, transparency, and independence.
No. WOFA is a completely independent, nonpartisan, and non-denominational organization. It is not affiliated with any political party, religious organization, or ideology.
Its work is based exclusively on universal humanitarian principles: human dignity, impartiality, nonviolence, and international solidarity.
WOFA is governed by its bylaws, which were adopted at the General Assembly on February 17, 2026. It is organized around three governing bodies: the General Assembly, the Board of Directors, and the Audit Committee.
The Board, elected by the General Assembly, is responsible for the strategic and operational management of the association. It is composed of volunteers and operates collegially, in accordance with the principles of transparency and collective responsibility.

WOFA manages its funds transparently and independently, free from any influence by governments, corporations, or political parties. Its resources come exclusively from donations, membership dues, and community fundraising efforts.
The association’s accounts are maintained by a treasurer and audited annually by an independent auditing body. The funds raised are used exclusively to achieve the association’s statutory goals.
WOFA is domiciled at Alternative Bank Schweiz AG in Olten.
Any individual of legal age or legal entity that shares the association’s goals may apply for membership. The application must be submitted in writing to the Board, which has sole discretion over admission.
The annual membership fee is set at 20 CHF (solidarity rate) or 50 CHF (support rate).
Becoming a member means actively supporting WOFA’s humanitarian work and contributing to its democratic governance.
